The Dome

The Romanini Family Court

In November 2021, the Dome re-opened to students, games, pep rallies, and all - school masses after a several month renovation project thanks to a generous gift from the Romanini families.  The main focus was replacing the gym floor with a top notch floor just like the one installed at the Cleveland Cavaliers practice facility in Independence, Ohio and at their home court, Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, in Cleveland, Ohio. 

The original Dome floor dates back to 1965.  When the concrete was poured, it dried unevenly.  To resolve this problem, a layer of cork was added and finally covered with wood flooring.  Years of sanding, painting, and resealing kept the floor in an acceptable condition, but soon it's lifetime ran out and refinishing the floor one more time, was no longer an option.  Today's replacement floor is a floating floor which provides high shock absorption which leads to fewer and more benign injuries.  New bleachers were added to increase the capacity by 110 spectators for the "Super Fans".  The locker rooms off the Dome received new carpeting.  

During the 2020 - 2021 school year the roof was replaced, foam paneling was installed to improve the acoustics, and the Dome became fully air conditioned allowing comfort during all seasons, assemblies, liturgies, games, and events like The Warrior Gala.
