Kathleen Ekey, Class of 2005

Ms. Kathleen Ekey received numerous honors during her time at Walsh Jesuit, including the Cleveland Plain Dealer All-Star in 2002, 2003, and 2004 along with the Akron Beacon Journal All-Star in 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2004.  The Cleveland Plain Dealer named Kathleen player of the year in 2004 and the Akron Beacon Journal honored her as Player of the Year in 2003 and 2004.

During Kathleen's time at Walsh Jesuit, her teams won the sectional and district championship all four years and in the "bad" years finished fourth in the state in 2002 and sixth in the state in 2003.  In the good years there was no body better as she book-ended her WJ career with state championships in 2001 and 2004.
Kathleen also won medalist honors at the state tournament securing an individual state championship in the process.  She capped off an undefeated senior season with medalist honors at the state tournament, securing an individual state championship for the effort.  In amateur golf, Kathleen won the Ohio Amateur and was on the Rolex Junior All-American team.

Kathleen continued her career in college first at Furman University where she was Southern Conference Freshman of the Year.  She then transferred to the University of Alabama where she had an exemplary career, earning All-SEC, All-American, and Academic All-American honors.

After graduation Kathleen achieved her lifelong goal of becoming a member of the LPGA tour after winning the 2011 Epson Tour Money List and being named Player of the Year.  She also competed in the US Women's Open on two occasions.

In her post playing days Kathleen married Luke Lang and settled in Dallas, Texas where she is the mother of two daughters Tayler Cavan and Hadleigh Gray.
